Not sure if we've had this conversation before, but I'm wondering if this forum should be restricted to women only.
Would that offer a better sense of comfort?
Would the men be terribly offended if they couldn't get in here?

If you prefer to voice your opinion in private, feel free to PM or email me.

Thanks!

It wouldn't bother me one bit.

May I offer a suggestion?...Just make one of the gals a Moderator there and lock out the guy Mods. also to keep it basically "dude free."
Except for yourself Adam. You are the home owner here.

This has come up before and I'd be in favor of putting the "Ladies Only" sign on the door.  Sarge makes a good point also.

I say give them their own space, if they need help I'm sure they will ask. It might help create more interest in the forum by women vette loversWink

I'd also say to give them their own space. Treat it like the "Anything Goes" forum, where only the people who have access to it see the content. Micki is already a moderator, so it probably wouldn't be an issue for her to keep an eye on the Women's forum.

Sorry Micki, here I am volunteering you for something!!

Interesting that the guys are the ones responding here.

I too am in favor of them having their own section.  Maybe they won't post those nasty emails about men on our sideRolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20LaughingRolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20LaughingRolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing

I am OK too, with having it for only the women.Thumbs%20Up

But I think, Maybe the overall decision should be up to the women

I agree with Steve (and not cause he has a 74 too).   Wink   I feel the gals should decide if they want their forum private.  As far as I'm concerned,
I've never been in their forum, so its fine with me.

Hmmm...seems a lot of guys are saying it's okay to give them they're own forum/space/section, whatever...
But...fact is, they already have that. It is the Vette Women's forum.
I think it should totally be for the ladies only. If the ladies have tech questions or such, then there is the rest of the C3VR site for them to post in.
My vote/opinion is to lock the doors to the ladies room, and keep the menfolk out.
I also agree with having one of the ladies moderate it, keeping it testosterone-free.

The irony of posting this question, in this forum, has just hit me...

most of the responses have been from guys... Adams' Apple2007-12-12 20:20:24

I thought it was already set up that way.
The guys could look, but not touch.
Unless the new forum software unlocked the door.

Now if you wanted to make it real private for them, make it like the moderators forum where the guys can't even see what they are saying about us.LOL

But I would want the same thing for us males so we can tell dirty little lies about them as well.

Yep....  Wink  Although, sometimes ignorance is bliss!

By the way, when I first joined C3VR the Vette Women's forum was DEAD!  Didn't really come to life until the guys had the informal OK to post there.  My $ .02.  Maybe there are now enough female members to support a separate forum...???  Whatever.....

I think it would be nice to have a "spot/place" where only ladies can chat. The guys have been quite helpful in this forum, but for me it's rare to have a forum for lady vette lovers.

I'm in 2 clubs in NY and they very male dominated. Nice guys, but hardly any female input. I would love to get together/talk about the car with some ladies from my area.

I agree we could still go to other forums for help or to chat with the guys. Fellows, you still rock!!

Greypop. I see you're an artist. My son is 13 and also an artist. He takes classes and draws a lot of "still life". Currently he's auditioned for some of the art High Schools in NYC. Which area of art expression do you find most lucrative?

Greypoupon69,

I know what you mean about time to the kids. My son has art class weekly, now open houses and auditions to these art High Schools. Oh, what a process. The auditons take a about 2-3 hrs! So I feel you. Hopefully, it will all pay off when he focuses on what he wants to do. He'll be getting into the areas you're doing soon. Meanwhile, I cherish the time I can spend with the vette.Smile

I personally don't like segregation. If the forum is about Vette owners who are Women that's cool.

Events, happenings, questions, fun can all be part of it with some male interaction. But, to lock down a forum for women exclusively is silly. I guess I thought the forum was for everybody. (Family)

Heck with that thought in mind can we have one for Blonds Only too?

Last time there was a room full of blondes........... LOL

I remember the blonde girl with the shampoo bottle, she came out of the shower 2 hours later asking for more shampoo. Evidently the bottle said ."wash , rinse, repeat"

If the girls want their own space it would be great, I just feel that it will end up like the chat room every time you go in there except chat night.... no one home.

Its not like there a limit on forum space.

Tux , get out of here , this is the ladies chat space...  LOL

Hey bqilt,

Actually my son is the artist. He too likes charcoal and pencil. He's beginning to use color, which he enjoys and says is a challenge. He's done a lot of still life which is what they're doing in High School so he's got a good edge. For me I like to write also. Time has been the problem. Mainly  I've written some poetry and a story I've begin working on forever. Welcome to the site.
Hey June and Blessing- Did I hear art?  I draw and paint- and also write. Love portraits- charcoal is still me fav for them, though prismacolors are great for color....  Nice to know that their are other art lovers here as well- think thats why I love vettes- another art form (-:
I paint and draw ......... actually make money doin' it.LOLLOL  I want to see your stuff.  What do you like to paint?  I paint old men (that's my favorite).  I look at vettes as a piece of art history and drivin' them is even better! Wink

I agree with most of the posts. If it is for "women only" then so it should be, but it is for vette women. I do think that sometimes the women are looking for encouragement or cudos from the male section. It's true that they can get that from other places on this site, but they might want to "run it by the girls" first.. We have an r-rated section why can't we have a "women only section". Lets hear from all you young, beautiful ladies out there. Don't let us guys decide for you.

Jim

Ladies Forum only !!!, sure as long as we have a MENS forum only, both of which are bad ideas.

This is a CAR club not a sex club granted it is mainly men, I personally like to hear the ladies veiws and welcome them to the club, I also like to read what they do to their cars and if I am restricted because of my sex what is the point of being in a CAR club which is sexist.

Ok...so it seems the majority thinks the Women should not/do not need their own locked forum.  So let me ask you this.... do we need to keep this separate Women's Forum at all? It really doesn't get much activity.

usually when i talk and it has to do with women, i am wrong, but here goes anyway.  i think if it does not create a space useage problem or headaches for you adam that a forum tag for the ladies is a good idea for if nothing else it shows all new ladies that they are welcomed and excepted here, it allows ladies to post in an area that will come to the 24 forum post so other women will see a fresh post due a response from a female (hope that is clear)

I agree with 1badLarry...except for the "I am wrong" part...
I think having a Ladies Only forum is a great idea, as the ladies might not always want to talk cars, but might still want to converse with the other women here at C3VR.
Granted, it doesn't see a lot of activity, but it does show that the female Corvette owner does have a place here. It ain't just a "boys club".
In the end, it should be left up to the Ladies, imho.

I agree with Joel. Looks like the consensus of the men is let the ladies decide.

Adam, I think a ladies only forum would be fine with me. As you said it would be nice to talk about other things or even just to talk to other "women" about the cars. I don't think it's sexiest because the majority to the site are men, which is fine. A men's only forum wouldn't bother me either. We're all adults and we can come to together when we feel like it without gender issues. The site is still open to everyone. Afterall guys it's only words on a screen! EmbarrassedWink

My suggestion is take a poll of the women only and ask them to vote on the issue once and for all.Smile

Well, IMHO I think we should keep the Vette Women Forum and let the men be able to view it and post in there also.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it, ladies......LOL
