I'm new here, and am so glad to see a WOMEN'S SECTION!!!  Why does it seem that this is the only site with one?  I grew up lovin acrs of all kinds, and spent most of my weekends with my best friend at Hilltop Cars where they restored all muscle cars.  I am so excited about my new vette- it's been years in the works for me to actually own one, but I also still love my '67 Mustang, and can't wait to find a good Javalin to restore.  Now why do most guys find that strange?  I think they're just embarrassed when I beat them.....

I don't think anyone here will think it's strange that you're a woman who loves cars - but a Javelin?  That's weird!!

Glad to have you here!

Well - just got the car home- about 1:30 this morning- after driving from near Dallas to South Carolina..... quite the trip.  She's BEAUTIFUL!!!!  Has a few minor issues, but nothing thats a real problem.  I have to fix a turn signal, minor paint touch up and a bit of loosening some clips on a body panel- but she drives better than most new cars....I'm in love...... pics soon to follow- as soon as I can get the camera charged (:  Thanks for the welcome all- and hey- the Javalin thing- I can't help it- its one of the only cars of that era that most younger people don't recognize- they are different, and not like all the other muscle cars we see on a regular basis....

Whatever GM offered in a performance engine the Javelin would have it also. GM supplied American Moters with their V8's........i thinks .

My brother-in-law's '70 AMX has a built 390 in it that's pushin' out around 600HP.

A lot of folks don't remember that Roger Penske built/Mark Donahue driven Javelins did quite well on the racing circuit in the early '70s.

see.....even Javalins are loved .... (-:.... But I do have to admit- after driving the new vette.... well- the Javy can wait.  I'm spoiled now.  I like the crate motor- ups the hp just enough to make it really fun, and for a 30 year old car, the thing handles unbelievably well!!!!  I am seriously impressed.  Has a few bugs to work out- hopefully minor.  Needs a turn signal rewired, e brake tightened, and possibly trany work- maybe sequencer, but once thats done, I'm good to go....  Oh- and I think I lucked out- turns out it is a manual anniversery edition- apparently pretty darn rare.  Any info on that anyone?

Don't remember seeing what year it was. Manuals seem less available. Love manual transmixers. We'll all hope you still have a little adjustment left on the E brake. They're not a C3 strong point Wink.

Hi bgilt!  Good to hear you love your new Vette!

And why not a Javelin?  I love 'em.  They aren't a dime a dozen like Camaros, Chevelles, and......dare I say it.....Mustangs!  ;-)  My other car is a slightly modified 1972 Monte Carlo.  They are becoming more popular though, so maybe time to get something else.  Maybe a Henry J?  lol

As the president of our local car club (Outlaw Car Club), I see a great mix of wonderful muscle cars and great cruising machines.  One member has a silver 68 Javelin SST, 390/auto that is in pristine condition.  Another has a 72 Monte that is restored to factory original conditon.  Then there is another with a 70 Camaro that is street legal and runs in the low 9's.  Our club has it all, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, Buicks, Fords, Mercurys, Dodges, Plymouths, AMC, and Studebaker.  My wife absolutely loves her 69 Camaro SS 4 speed car and wouldn't trade it for anything.  Welcome to a forum that will help with any of your questions.

Ms.Mick- I agree completely- thats why I like 'em- they are still uncommon and all to often forgotten- ace- the car is a 78..... and in the shop now.....ergh. Had to get the minors fixed to pass inspection so I can get it registered and taged here. Stupid question for you all- is it a seqencer or synchronizer that controls gear ratio/etc in a manual? Thanks in advance to anyone who knows.....Adams' Apple2007-12-10 20:04:24

Bry- I'm afraid I agree. It'll be nice when it stops raining around here so I can actually take some pics to post.... grrrr....plus its no fun to drive in the rain- have to fix the driver seat track- don't laugh- but I had to put a pillow behind me so I can reach the clutch till the seat moves, and its not too safe since I got the timing adjusted, the car has more power and breaks loose on wet roads.... now I just need to buy tailight lense covers so I can get those replaced and pass inspection. Its getting there, oh, yeah, and the tranny issue.... It'll be nice when all is as it should be. At least all the parts are there, unlike the 74 and 76 which are stripped, and almost sanded getting ready for their paint. I'm just thrilled this one is drivable, and its engine isn't wrapped in plastic in the garage....Adams' Apple2007-12-10 20:04:51

I'll give notice when it might happen- and anyone nearby- I'm near Rockwall- about 20 minutes from Dallas- we'll have to meet up somewhere for a fun drive and maybe dinner- and I hope no one minds answering all my questions (-:Adams' Apple2007-12-10 20:06:55
