A guy says he has a set of corvette rally wheels for sale. How can I tell that they are for a corvette and  not for a camero? I know the wheel size is 15x7,but what else should I look for?

All Rally wheels are is a wheel painted Argent Silver.  It's the trim ring and center cap that makes them Corvette Rally wheels...or the same wheel with a set of P02 wheel covers is no longer a Rally wheel.  The rim is still the same.

True Corvette Rally wheels are 15"x8" with the exception of 1968 which were 15"x7".  There may be some markings on the rim that makes a difference for purists but I'm not aware of that.

Camaro's probably used the same 15"x7" but I don't know if they ever used the 15"x8".  Maybe someone else here can tell you that.

The stampings on the rims(date codes and such) tell what they fit. There are subtle differences between the Corvette rim and Camaro rims. It's the wheel offset that makes the biggest difference between them. There are a lot of folks selling Rally rims that are actually for a Caprice, or Impalla, as well as Camaro. I don't have all the specs in front of me, but if the rims you're looking at are 15x7, they are prolly NOT Corvette rims. The '68 did have 15x7 rims, but true '68 Rally rims are rare, and hard to find. I think the code for the '68 rims is AZ, which you will find next to the hole for the valve stem. I can dig up the rim stamping info later, if needed. We do have a member here(Tom hunt4cleanair) that has done extensive research on Corvette rims/codes...perhaps he can reply with more info.

It appears that Tom is not currently a member now...  You can still try to e-mail him thru his profle page. If not, I can give you his e-mail addy, if you P/M me.

Thanks for the info ,after seeing that list.I never knew that rally wheels where used on so many different cars.I thought that people took corvette and camero wheels and put them on the other cars.

Are you absolutely certain it's not a DC?
I don't have my book handy, but the list above looks right. It's possible there is a DG 15" rim. Can you tell how wide it is?
I can dig up some more info...

I double checked my extra spare rim,and it is definately DG and measures 15".The width appears to be 6".It is hard to measure going through one of the 5 rally holes. It is stamped GM on the inner face with KH for kelsey hayes. It has a shallow offset to it and I was just curious what it was off of.I have owned my 68 coupe for 38 years on july 22.
