A friend's 35 Vic is overheating even after short jaunts. It is in 110 weather of Mesa, AZ. I seem to think it has to do with the radiator being horizontal to the ground. Not angled back but parallel to the ground. I have no idea if this is a common occurrence with these restomods.  Anyone have any idea? His trusted mechanic, whom I believe is a schmutz, says he should add another fan. This is not the reason I think he doesn't know much about this car or any others actually. The car does seem to drive fine when it is a mild 90-95 outside.

Wow That's a challenge with rad in that position, is this while going down the road or at idle?

In order for the rad to cool the water, air has to go through it, not passed it.  Wink

What does he have where the radiator is traditionally placed on a '35.,,,motor? A radiator man would say more cores in the radiator & more fans

I'm not in Arizona right now but as I remember it seemed to me that the radiator that they installed was too big to fit in the traditional spot. So apparently someone decided to lay it flat.

Yeah, maybe a custom air dam will work.

What will work best would be to get a friggin radiator that FITS where it's s'posed to fit. What a mulrooney.....Ermm

I have an article somewhere here on an old '57 Corvette drag car that had the rad in the trunk,  where the spare tire usedta be. Seems that feller also had a hard time keeping it cool....

Confused  Seems to me that "Common Sense"  and "Good Judgment" are in short supply!  Maybe a set of wheelie bars would help the air flow!

Agreed! He bought the car from a guy in Colorado so I wonder if they 1. tried the correct fit rad and it didn't work or 2. didn't have the correct fit and rad and put this thing in.

The rest of the car is done right though. They went to extremes to hide the brake power booster s it wasn't visible in the engine compartment so why wouldn't you have the correct rad. It may be an older build so maybe they didn't have all the proper parts? They even installed a Classic Auto Air system.

Ya think?! LOL LOL
Ya never know what some folks will come up with as an "upgrade". Just plain silly, imho. As long as the grill and shell are open, the proper rad in the front should do the job well. There are THOUSANDS of '33-'34 Ferds runnin around out there that don't have to put the rad in the rear. I think someone was just tryin something new to freak all his buds out. I'm sure they were freaked.....and then all died from llaughter....Tongue

Oops, Sorry Al I missed this.  Going down the road. From what he says it was just a mile or three.
