I have been snake bitten this summer.  I realize that this is the first year that the car has been on the road in a decade but come on now.

Put a push rod through a rocker arm and replace all the rockers with rollers rockers.

I (Darryl, actually) replaced the U joints on the half shafts.

The T-top abandoning me.

The wiper motor.

Headlight header panel letting loose.

My attempt at body work.

I forgot some other stuff...

Now, I was a tenth of a mile from the Coughlin dealership in Pataskala, Pa I nailed something in the middle of the road and at the next turn, as I hit the gas, POOF  a big cloud of smoke.

Long story short, the folks at the dealership got me in(and out) very quickly.  We left only about 15 minutes after the main caravan.   No damage, the POOF...no idea until, we got near the Bellterra casino.  I was smoking the whole way.  I lost the tranny going down hill, coasting at 75-80 with the RPM's reading 700.  Cruised to an intersection and couldn't move.  My mechanic(Sara) walked to buy some tranny fluid, threw 2 quarts in and off we went to the casino.  I (Sarge, really) diagnosed it as the tranny vacuum modulator.  The leader of our caravan said he'd pick up the part for me.  Hopefully that will do it and we'll be able to head to BG.  Otherwise, we head back home with 30 quarts of tranny fluid at the ready.

More on this when we get home, with pictures.

Just got off the phone with Dave, and they're in the process of locating a modulator valve for the trans....assuming they can stop having fun long enough to do that.....LOL

Don't worry Dave and Sara, I'll be right behind you tomorrow afternoon.

I am leaving about 5 A.M. tomorrow morning.

700 miles and 10 hours to Mammoth Caves NP.

Call me if I can help.
