20th Anniversary Event Agenda Posted
The waiting is now over! Our Events Department has rolled out an amazing line-up of activities in celebration of the Museum's 20th Anniversary, including things to do at both the Museum and Motorsports Park. Hear seminars on Nurburgring, Zora Duntov, the founding of the Museum, the history of Corvette, the 1983 Corvette, the sinkhole and more.
Chevrolet will be offering a Ride and Drive at the Motorsports Park, and we will also be offering free Parade Laps (drive your own car) on the new track, plus special touring sessions with VIPs in addition to the Grand Opening festivities planned for Thursday morning.
Aside from the scheduled activities, we have posted a number of road tour ideas that you can take on your own or with a group of friends (maps, too!) and we are continuing to add a few guided road tours designed for those who are "new" to visiting Bowling Green and/or are not traveling to the event with a club or friends (great way to meet people!).
Check out the many links and pages we have created to help you plan your visit online here. |
Converting Construction Team to Corvette Enthusiasts
Since February, Tom Henry has been serving as a consultant with Hayward Baker, working in the Skydome to fix the sinkhole. “I’ve been putting in the micro piles around the perimeter of the spire and the dome itself.” Being around all of the Corvettes has had an effect on Tom however, making him think about getting one. Hearing about this, Museum Director Wendell Strode asked GM’s John Spencer to come over and reward Tom with a ride in a brand new C7. “I’m here to seal the deal,” John jokes. “I’ll bring him back in one piece but we’re going to have a good time along the way.”
“I am really excited about this,” Tom says with a big smile. “It’s been a long time since I’ve even been in a Corvette so I’m looking forward to seeing what these cars can do. It would be a nice way to end this thing… by driving away in a Corvette of my own.” |

C7 Stingray Press Kits Available for a Donation
In an effort to help raise funds for the Museum's sinkhole relief, General Motors has donated some C7 Stingray Press Kits that enthusiasts can receive for a $500 donation.
The press kits were available to media and select VIPs at the January 2013 reveal of the Seventh Generation Corvette. The kits are new and in a sealed box. To secure yours, visit our website and select the Sinkhole C7 Press Kit option and designate your donation amount to be $500.
In addition to receiving your kit you will also get a donation acknowledgement letter, and the donation will count towards our annual Winner's Circle recognition (those who give $1,000 and above in a calendar year). Click here to donate while they last! |

Enthusiast Donates Dale Earnhardt Guitar to Benefit Museum
After the Museum sinkhole damaged eight prized Corvettes and the iconic home that housed them, Gary Davis knew he had to do something to show his support. Gary own a limited edition, 2003 Dale Earnhardt Tribute Concert Epiphone Gibson Guitar (one of only 300 made) featuring autographs from Martha Earnhardt, Kerry Earnhardt, Taylor Earnhardt, Carol Bickford (Jeff Gordon's mother), Glenn Wood (Wood Bros.), Rusty Wallace and Darrell Waltrip.
"The reason I donated it was that Dale will always be a part of GM, Racing, and Corvettes. I figured some lucky bidder would get something they would enjoy. Happiness is what life is all about and the Corvette is The American Sports Car that will give it to you."
Gary's guitar was auctioned off on the Museum's eBay account, netting $1,025.
If you have an item you would like to donate to the Museum as a fundraiser, please contact Stephanie Morrill at stephanie@corvettemuseum.org or call 270-467-8837. Donors will receive an acknowledgment letter for either the value of the item, or the amount it sells for (whichever is greater). |
