Bash Pre-Registration Closing, Attendees Offered Sinkhole Tours

20th AnniversaryIf you have not yet registered for our April 24-26 "Bash" event you have until tomorrow (Friday) at 5pm CT to do so.

In addition to getting the opportunity to see the 2015 Corvettes, including the latest Z06, you'll hear from those who designed and built the car and be given the opportunity to ask questions.

The Museum will also be giving those registered for the event an opportunity to venture into the Skydome for an upclose view and photo op of the sinkhole.

View the complete agenda and register online here.

Motorsports Park Paddock Paving Begins

Spring is finally here and work is well underway at the NCM Motorsports Park with paving officially starting on April 1st. First on the list was the paddock area, which will be used for autocross and as a skid pad.

Next up is the installation of some guard rails and within a month or so, paving of the road course will begin. Currently the Museum is raising money to help complete the "carousel" feature of the East Track. This is an extra portion of the track which initial funding does not cover, and without funding it will not get paved. Individuals, clubs and businesses can pay for "tons" of asphalt to help complete the track!

Glass Odyssey Host a "Sweet" Sinkhole Fundraiser

The Glass Odyssey Corvette Club of Kitsap County, WA held their annual banquet on March 22. The Executive Board approved fundraising for the Museum during the dessert dash auction where each table bids on the opportunity to select a dessert for their table from the delectable desserts provided by some of the club members. Some of the most popular desserts included "Sinkhole Memorial Chocolates" and a 2-lb. solid chocolate 1963 Sting Ray.

The club's "sweet" fundraiser netted $1,223.06 for the Museum.

Thanks to the club for this generous contribution!

A Museum Engagement

On Wednesday April 9, 2014, in the sitter car at the National Corvette Museum, Sean Austin of Concord North Carolina, asked Candi McBride to marry him. If you were lucky enough to be watching on the entrance webcams at just the right moment, you’d have seen her happily accept his proposal as he presented the ring.  “I’ve been thinking about it for a year and a half,” Sean said, “and planning to ask her here at the Museum for the last four or five months. I thought it would be pretty cool because I’ve got Corvettes, I love Corvettes and always wanted one ever since I was a little kid. She likes Corvettes too, so I figured that this would be the perfect place for this special occasion.”

Museum Executive Director Wendell Strode ran into the happy couple shortly afterwards, and treated them to a visit to the sinkhole as an engagement present. Normally  jaws drop at the first viewing of the sinkhole but Sean and Candi were all smiles as they were looking forward to the road ahead of them.

Congratulations Sean and Candi and thank you for sharing this day with your new friends at the National Corvette Museum.
