On
Wednesday April 9, 2014, in the sitter car at the National Corvette
Museum, Sean Austin of Concord North Carolina, asked Candi McBride to
marry him. If you were lucky enough to be watching on the entrance
webcams at just the right moment, you’d have seen her happily accept his
proposal as he presented the ring. “I’ve been thinking about it for a
year and a half,” Sean said, “and planning to ask her here at the Museum
for the last four or five months. I thought it would be pretty cool
because I’ve got Corvettes, I love Corvettes and always wanted one ever
since I was a little kid. She likes Corvettes too, so I figured that
this would be the perfect place for this special occasion.”
Museum
Executive Director Wendell Strode ran into the happy couple shortly
afterwards, and treated them to a visit to the sinkhole as an engagement
present. Normally jaws drop at the first viewing of the sinkhole but
Sean and Candi were all smiles as they were looking forward to the road
ahead of them.
Congratulations Sean and Candi and thank you for sharing this day with your new friends at the National Corvette Museum.
