Maybe Clint can give us a heads up on what the weather is that time of year (Temp.) so us northerners will know what to pack.

You gotta admit, it WOULD be different to bring the Mustang! Have no fear, barring unseen tragedy, the AWESOME Light Blue 79 T top coupe will be done in PLENTY of time! A road trip to wring it out will be just what the Doctor ordered!

When do we need to confirm the Prepaid Events by?  We've booked our room, but my work schedule around that week is "iffy."

I just reserved a Camaro SS rental! Now I REALLY can't wait until 5/16!!!

I have to pick it up in Richmond, VA. It is the only place I could find one for rent along my entire route from home to Charleston.  It's gonna cost me about $500.  I could have gotten a Corvette in Raleigh/Durham, but that cost $1500!

Are we there yet!?!?!

I think the Camaro will get you in enough trouble....save the other grand for tire damage and or speeding / unsafe start tickets.
We will be in Richmond Tuesday night for the first leg of the trip.

I'm confused.  Only $1000 difference and you still only took the Camaro?

It's yet to be seen what mine will do, but Dave M doesn't have a hard time keeping up with ANYONE! And if Paul comes and DRIVES his, he shouldn't have a problem, either! It WILL be very interesting to see how this new setup works!

Dan that is my plan but not sure if the group will be doing the same. We go to Myrtle beach every spring and stop at Richmond. It's about an 8 hour run for me and I like to getoff 95 early in the day then back on early in the day.

I stay at a Sheraton on points so it's not an added cost to me and an Applebees is in the next parking lot.
I can reconnect with the group at any place on 95 Wed. morn. I will either stay in Richmond or Chamberburg Pa. on retun trip, more likley Richmond. Not going to tow all that fast, espically if Mark is going to make "U turns"  Wink

I plan on getting to Richmond, VA around noon. I'm guessing you'll be hitting the road long before that.  It's another 7 hours from there to Charleston.

We plan to stop for the night in Bowie, MD, visit the grand kids. Hope to get started early on Wednesday and s/b in the Richmond area around 9AM and then continue down 95 to 26. As we get closer, will know more- but, I'm sure we will hook up with someone along the way.

danascar said: I see by Ebo's post that the first night stopping point for east coasters is Richmond, VA...is this official or just your stop off point, Ebo Question If it is the group stop for the day is there an official hotel/motel picked out Question

Plans?  Maps?  Stops?  What are you all talking about?

Get in car.  Point towards SC.  Go.

There.  My planning is done!  Big smile  Are we there yet?

Even though Charleston is only just over a 2 hour drive for me, there's no way my old dead legs will allow me to attend. Sure sounds tempting though, especially when you guys start talking about those  fast SS Camaros, Mustangs and even some bad ZZ4. Big smile

Looking forward to meeting you and your family again in Lumberton though. You might even be able to talk me into putting my car on your first aid trailer and letting you take it with you. I can thumb back to my house. Big smile

My plan is to drive to Manasas, VA on Tuesday, stay overnight with my sister, then drive Wednesday to the hotel.

I haven't looked at any maps yet, so I haven't thought about routes or times yet.

Question to Clint about the pre-pay: Can we send you personal checks? Did you post an address on one of the other posts?

Dave we take 81 to 66 Front Royal to 17 to Fredricksburg to 95. If you stay on 66 it goes into Manassas.

Since this is a public forum, I'd suggest you PM the folks that RSVPed with your mailing address and to not post it in a forum thread.

Thanks for your efforts!!

Sounds like a plan. I would pick up I81 near Harrisburg.

Plans came together last night and booked a flight for Patty a few minutes ago.  I'll be leaving "The Ranch" on Saturday, May 12th, and plan to overnight somewhere between Bloomington, IL and Indianapolis, IN.

Sunday, the 13th, I want to stop at "The Brickyard", see the museum, and then head for Knoxville, TN.  Anyone in the Indy area know a good place for breakfast...???

Monday, the 14th, I'll start out with a ride on 'The Tail of the Dragon' (maybe more than one!) and then wind through the mountains to my sister Ingrid's home near Brevard, NC to spend a couple of days visiting with her.

On Wednesday, the 16th, I'll head for Charleston for the gathering.  Hopefully I can hookup with a few others on the road and caravan into town.

On Sunday, the 20th, Patty arrives in Charleston around 6:00 PM.  That looks like it will be a good day to tour Patriots Point Naval/Maritime Museum and the USS Yorktown.

On Monday, the 21st, Patty & I will start working our way up the coast on roads as close to the water as we can get.  Overnight stops haven''t been figured out yet but plan to be in Boston sometime on Wednesday, the 23rd.  Our son-in-law's graduate school graduation ceremony is Friday afternoon, the 25th.

Then on Saturday, the 26th, we'll start heading west (route TBD) ending up back at "The Ranch" on Memorial Day, the 28th.

Nothing like 'Seeing the U.S.A. in your Chevrolet'...!!!   Thumbs Up

Unfortunately no, "The Toy" won't be ready for a long haul this year so I will be in "The Beast" again.
