there's an old picture of the stingray, before all the work. now, that hood won't fit...the intake on this 406 is too tall, and even with a drop-base air filter, we can't get the hood to close. I need a different hood, L88 or LT1...I know the L88 provides like...2 inches of additional clearance off of that stock hood...what about the LT1? I'm curious because I can't decide if I like the LT1 or the L88 better.

jreddingI crossed that bridge recently (no pun intended, referring to your pic)......I thought the LT-1 hood was going to cut it too close as far as clearance. Since the raised area is in the front and finishing more like a stock hood toward the back, my calculations (eyeballing it) indicated that the air cleaner was still going to hit. I'll be installing an Air-Gap manifold, so I went with the L-88. It's more like a true cowl-induction hood.....and there's something magical about driving and, at the same time, catching a glimpse of your powerplant working. My wife says it's a guy thing....not to mention the menacing look it acquires.

garr72Had the same problem with clearance and I went with a Vancor 67 stinger hood the car is a 72 Mille Maglia with a black stinger sharp
