I wanted to let people know that I have the ability to produce the Original Rear Window Hinges for the 1982 Collector Eddition Vette. I know there have been some after market hinges made with CNC cutters that are not the original design and do not match the original appearance. The original production hinges have a tendency to warp over time due to constant pressure from the gas shocks that hold up the rear window. The warpage causes the rear window to have problems closing and sealing properly.
My hinges are the original design and made with the correct production process.
If you need the OEM designed part for your car. Please contact me.
Great question Gilbert.
I always thought the 82 with the opening window was so cool.....well I still do. But I have to say that is what I hear the most from CE owners.....back window does not seal. Vettes and leaks.... if you can fix em with a stronger hinge thats the way to go. And if the car is to be judged would'nt you want the hinges to actually do what they where known to do....warp? That is as it was "in the day"
My car has a terrible paint job runs, dri spots and even a frigin finger print where some one tried to wipe out a drip.....but that represents GM's quality at the givin time in history and I would never want to change that.
The hinge that I can produce is much stronger and will not warp like the one that came with the car. The material being used is a higher quality material. These parts will also pass if you were to have your car judged in a competition. They are the same part that are higher quality. I have sold many parts, in the past, to people who needed items that were to be judged and have never had any issues.
