I believe the '78 models had yellow rims...I know the Pacers did. Should also be a space saver/temporary, iirc. It was done so people would be too embarrassed to drive around on the goofy yeller spare rim, and then they would get the road tire replaced quickly.
Winner winner, chicken dinner.
You are the winner!! How do you like your chicken cooked for the dinner?? Any idea on the color? That could win you Surf & Turf😂
The early '78s(Sept-March build dates) came with the yaller spare rims. Later cars were black, but they were still the non-rally type rims.

Wow!! What a great show that was. Laughed my ??? off watching it. Guess we are both showing our age.
Early '78 models, biult in 77 had yellow rims. Around November 77 they went to black. My 78, built 4th May 78 has a black rim. I believe they may have gone back to yellow soon after this - mine is the last known black rim mentioned in an NCRS article some years ago.
Mine is that yellow color as well. I believe it has the original tire on it! Doesnt hold air of course.
My wheel had the origional spare mounted on it, and it did actually hold air. Until September '23, when I succumbed and changed the tyre to make the car a little more "breakdown-proof". When my tyre man took it off, it looked like a brand tyre around the bnead an d inside and appeared to be in great shape. But, there was no way I'd have trusted it to run on. Having had a rather costly 65 mile tow home a month before we have done all we can to ensure we can fix the basic stuff on the roadside.
I think y'all are messing with us .... I agree its a tractor tire ... probably left over from a blow out on a country road and quick thinking from a local farmer 🤣🤣

Here's a photo of the spare wheel on our '78, before I put a new tyre on. The rim is black, but the tyre looks similar to the one on that "tractor "wheel😄
