Just the lever itself, or the whole turn signal switch?

The lever itself is held to the switch by a Phillips head screw. You need to remove the steering wheel, and the top portion(hub/adaptor) of the tele assy. to get to the switch, and the screw.
This is assuming that the turn sig/c-control stalks with the wiper controls in them are the same.
This is a question for Mr. Mike!!(mkapp7879)Adams' Apple2006-12-31 15:38:21

Just the lever, I've removed the steering wheel and pulled the switch out of my way. I can;t seem to find the set screw. The broken portion is still in the fitting.

 Thanks

78/79 levers should just PULL out and push back in. I believe there IS an early/late 78 situation, tho. With the cruise of course you'll need to get into the column for the wires first.

Mike, are they just an interference fit, or is there some sort of "catch" on the end of the stalk?

I'll check it out. Seems to make sense. I'm wondering if I'll have to drill out the broken piece to get it out. I've scratched my head so much today, i'm losing my hair.

There's like a catch on the end. There is also a groove near the end, too. Probably where it snapped off.  That doesn't leave much to grab hold of.
I was thinking about your idea of drilling it out so I went out and took a  look.  I'm thinking maybe drill it and tap it with a small, maybe 8-32 tap and insert a screw into it. Grip the screw with a vicegrips and pull it out. The catch I was thinking of is really just a "key" to keep it from turning. It's just a snug fit that keeps it in place. Mike

Interesting you say that! That's what mine was doing before it broke.
Not sure if its a normal thing or not. I've only owned the car about a year and it's be doing it since I bought it.

Mike, Just wanted to say thanks. I drilled out the broken piece... put in a small screw, then just pulled it out.

Thanks again and have a safe New Year!Smile
no easy fix????????
Your's could be either the stalk(handle) about to break, as above, or it could be the plastic in the turn sig. switch has deformed, or is damaged.

Sounds like maybe the "key" on the lever has been digging into the plastic. I'm wondering if Dwertz's new lever will be tight after replacing it or if the switch will need replacing, too.  Mike
