in need of some help again, hopefully thanks, started this morning to replace the turn signal switch in my corvette c3 l82 , tilt and tele steering column with cruise, ive taken photos of all of the strip down, but just added the last three showing the switch, which was broken and the area which i have the problem with. i can seem to see how the lever will attach to the new switch, there seems to be some parts missing around or attached to the pivot pin mount. i think the standard attacment method would be a screw into the switch, but from what i have read this morning , i think there may be a link bracket or something, which is missing or broken, im hopeing that someone can advise if im missing parts, which i need to buy. thanks in advance, much appreciate any help on this as im a bit remote in newcastke upon tyne , england, thanks , brian

problem fixed:-

All back up and running now , it was the part that i found, it had come out or handnt been fitted correctly, also there were two parts incorrectly assembled which must have caused the damage to the switch. just a note for anyone carrying tis out on the same model. It is a must that when you are feeding the new harmonica connector through the tilt tele steering column. you must remove the cable and spade terminals from the harmonica connecyor. they would go through assembled. best reards, brian

this last image was taken off a youtube video , the little bracket and screw shown here is missing from my turn signal switch, im wondering if i can buy this ? any help appreciated thanks

just found this part , in one of the boxes when i stripped the car down, thats a good bit of luck, not sure how it attaches to the turn signal arm, but it looks correct. any help apreciated, thanks

I have read that this is a job that can be a real nightmare!

I have a strange situation where the indicator arm will not "lock" for a left turn.  The indicator works, but I have to hold the switch lever down.  The right is fine.  I'm guessing something has moved, but I'm extremely reluctant to get into the steering wheel removal etc - it's a sort-of "if it ain't broke" thing, although it's almost broken!😄

Well done for getting yours sorted!👍

this can be a real  nightmare, one of the problems on the c3 l82 with tilt and tele + cruise is on re-asssembly, its almost impossible to re install the u circlip, due to the fact its a split steering column. the normal tools dont work to compress the spring. i had tp use very long tie wraps, pulling down on the tool i made , so wrapped around both sides of the steering column allowing the spring to compress, thus allowing the circlip to be installed. took me three hours this morning to complete this task, absolute nightmsre.

im a retired engineer, steam turbines etc, so am well versed in making tools up to achieve results, but this really had me thinking this morning haha. if i can help you in any way please ask and i will do what i can , best regards, brian

with regards to your problem, i did notice that there is a lot of play on the location hole/spigot where the arm fits, i have read elsewhere that other owners had a problem with this, i was going to look at bushing the hole to make a tighter fit, but my installation worked ok, even though i was not totally happy with the fit, ( ie too much movement) i could still operate for both teft and right turn signals
