All mufflers will be attached to a 2 and 1/2" pipe. Following a 2 and 1/2" outlet with exhust tips. No CATS, NO Y-PIPE, NO X-PIPE, TRUE DUAL PIPES.

I've got Flowmaster 40's on my Dakota and oh man they sound awsome.  I'm not sure if I'd like them one my Pace Car though, they are a bit loud cilrah38720.7351736111

I would seriously consider a chambered exhaust system.  It  eliminates the conventional bulky mufflers that normally go on our cars. I put the chambered on my 75 and absolutly love them. The sound and performance is outstanding. Do a google search for "chambered exhaust" and you will get plenty of information.

My build sheet says that my car came with "Off Road" exhaust. At one time I thought it was a chambered type system. I'm finding that to be untrue. Can anyone here tell me exactly the off road option is? It wasn't available when I bought the new exhaust system for the car. If it's simply a different muffler that can be purchased separately, I'd consider changing mine out. 68 did not offer side pipes, I'd like to stay stock appearing.

  I ALSO HAVE THE CHAMBERED SYSTEM FROM MID AMERICA. IT IS LOUD AND DOES SET OFF ALARMS. I WAS IN A LOUDEST EXHAUST CONTEST WITH IT AND IT REGISTERED 119 DB. THE ONLY CAR TO BEAT ME WAS AN UNCORKED 502 AT 124DB.....FORGET TALKING ON A CELL PHONE (WHICH I REALLY DON'T RECOMMEND) AND PUT THAT HUMONGUS SPEAKER IN IT LOUIS IF YOU WANT TO HEAR THE STEREO.  IWILL PROBALY ADD SOME MUFFLERS WHEN I GET TIRED OF IT, BUT IT DOES SOUND PRETTY BAD A$$!!!!!

I had the chambered pipes on my '70 and loved the sound...highly recommend them

I installed a chambered system on my 76 and after I layed a scratch pulling out of the muffler shop, I drove around the rest of the day with perma-grin. I got mine from a place called "sweet thunder"...(their web-site actually has a few sound-bites. They are 2 1/2" and 38" long. The entire system is 2 1/2" pipe attached to Headman ceramics, true duals with no h-pipe. I originally though I would go with an h-pipe because I didn't want it to be too loud but I have been plesantly surprised how happy I am with the deep tone. The directions on these have the flow going against the baffles...the sound is incredible but not too loud. Unfortunately at this time, I am still on jackstand installing my Christmas presents, calipers and u-joints.

 If your not in a hurry, Pypes performance exhaust is coming out with full systems ( headers to tailpipe) for a bunch of c3 years. Supposed to be out in spring time (2006).

 I dont have any experiance with pypes, maybe someone else on the forum knows about their products,quality etc. Might be worth the wait.

 My question is which mufflers give a good flow without drone/resonance in the car

I have the Hooker AeroChambers, and love the sound.  They are borderline too loud, but not over the border.  Great tone.

I'm surprised BORLA mufflers are not on your list. Those things are built like battleships. The Turbo universal muffler number 40659 should fit about the same as stock, or the Turbo XL is a little longer but should fit with slight modifications, number 40665

I am a big fan of The Walker Dyno-Max welded body mufflers. Mine are 2-1/2" on full length Hooker headers. You can see straight through the perforated pipe through them, but they are fairly quiet for cruise, but really RAP when I shower down on it. Sounds pretty mean.

Go with the chambered exhaust. I promise you'll never turn your radio on. No tune sounds better than those pipes talking trash. not to mention the view from the guy behind you.
