So it is obvious that the emission part of the 75 has been removed, probably long ago.  Sooo my question is, is there a benefit to replacing it or not, it would simply be a lot easier to leave it all off, we do not have all the same rules as some of your states do so it would only be done if it changed how the car performed.  What are your thoughts?

If you're not trying to keep the car original, and your laws don't require any of it, I say "Good Riddance"!! Wink
That crap won't actually help performance at all.

+1 on leaving it off. Just clutters up the engine compartment.

My personnel opinion about emissions control stuff is that they represent everything that went wrong in the 70s with performance. I have gotten rid of that power sucking equiptment long ago. I know there are a lot of purists that disagree with my thoughts, but my vette will be far from stock as far as the motor goes. If done right the motor will thank you.

Thanks guys.  That's pretty much how I felt about it, good to hear you agree.  Car seems to be all original so far except for the usual little things, but the car when I'm done will be what I want and that doesn't necessarily mean original (assuming I can afford what I want)

When I had a '78 L82 the AIR was already gone. After a while I removed the EGR and the rest of the smog equipment...the car ran smoother and stronger. The cleaner appearing engine bay was a bonus.

I have emissions/vacuum question.  With so much vacuum operated stuff---dampers---headlights...whatever on my 80 C3...will removing the emission stuff affect those operations at all?  I put a block off plate on the EGR and assume I ahve to jsut plug the vac lines that are associated with that...air pump....other vac parts?  HUH???  Quite a few lines to terminate or fully remove/plug/ reroute....what manual do you reference for that stuff?

Thanks in advance....rear emergency brake rebuild was a snap compared to replacing the heater core and blower....yikes!!

Does anyone have any idea what each of the vacuum ports do on the front of an 81 carburetor are? I’m trying to figure out what needs to be plugged and capped on the system.

I don't know much about the 81 other than the complicated electronic carb but if you are removing all the emissions junk then all you really need is vacuum to the distributor advance and any PCV hookups.  Usually the power brake booster and the vacuum for the HVAC/Headlight doors comes off the intake manifold.

You could probably could just plug the rest of the ports.
