I am rebuilding a very early 1969 vette that was an original side pipe car. When I purchased it, the side pipes were gone and standard duals with headers were installed. What were said to be the original manifolds came with the car. I checked one of the casting numbers at the time, and it matched the information in the source I was using, so they seemed to be correct.

On closer inspection the second manifold casting number did not match so I checked two other sources. Both sources show the same casting numbers for 1969. The manifolds I have are 3846559A LH and 3989036 RH. They have no A.I.R holes drilled. According to one of my sources, these appear to be for a late 1970 350 without A.I.R. The same source says that all 1969s had A.I.R, but many 1970s did not. I have three questions:
1) Can someone confirm the correct 1969 casting numbers.
2) Did all 1969 350s come with A.I.R.?
3) Do these seem to be for a late 1970 without A.I.R (In which case I am going to try and trade for the correct 69s. Manifolds with side pipes are going back on.)?

The correct exhaust manifolds for 1969 are as follows:

427 - left/3880827, right/3880828

350 - left/3872765 or 3932461, right/3932481

The NCRS Technical manual says that some small blocks that are late in the year may have 1970 manifolds. Those numbers are as follows:

left - 3846559 or 396986, right/3932461

In regards to dates, the manual says "Exhaust manifolds have a cast date code, which follows the alphanumeric date of the engine block without a year digit. The date is not usally visible with the manifolds installed and therefore is not to judged."

The manual also says that all 1968 and 1969 corvettes were equipped with A.I.R.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, it does help (the more information the better). My 1969 Stingray Guidebook agrees with your numbers. I have a 68-82 restoration guide that says these are late 1970 350/300 or 350/350 without AIR. Both of these books say that all 69 350s have AIR. The 68-82 says many 70s do not. Since they are off the car, I can check the date code. Now I just need to find someone with a pair of 69s who needs a pair of 70s.
