1981 c3 automatic with a 87-95 crate motor vin 14093638. Currently having a misfire on passenger side exhaust new plugs gapped per manufacturer.35 if I remember correctly will have to check my maintenance book again, new wires, and compression is 210-230 psi checked each cylinder. Distributer clean and somewhat new ( shiny inside and out).  Very noticeable with choke on and seldom with choke off at idle (carbureted). Timing is 12 degrees advanced ( what my book said to set it) Sent a video to a chevy friend of mine said it sounds like a dead miss to him.(tried uploading it wouldn’t let me) Recently dropped oil pan to replace gasket and found no trace of metal in the pan. Currently getting a spark plug tester to test each wire. I am looking for some ideas to start looking next if anyone could help me out.

Thank you,

David

In my 1974, l82, I recently had a hard to trace misfire and I found that the resistance in the coil wire was too high and the resistance in the coil was too low. Replaced both and solved the problem.

I don't know what the OHM resistance figures are for your year Corvette you will need to check on this before testing.

Can you short out cylinders to see which one is your issue?. Once found recheck ignition wires or even swap one out to see if miss moves. Is there spark coming from wire? Chk compression on that cylinder of question. If possible scope chk the engine at a facility that has a scope ' This could save you a lot of grief. Hope this helps you  JIM
