I think the paint on the hood can crack if the engine's high heat is transferred to it for a long enough amount of time.

F4GaryMy LT-1 with a/c gets pretty hot in the summer and I've never had a problem with the paint. I have no insulation.
I always thought the insulation was for noise deadening.
Domer94it looked like a good idea as most vehicles have underhood insulation for paint protection and sound. just wasnt sure if this kit ended up being more trouble than its worth...
my1stc3I was told by an older than me gentleman at a car show that the reflection from the air filter cover can burn thru the hood paint and he showed me a cover for it when at shows, I bought one from a lady on NCRS site
