My 69 corvette needs a new door hinge spring. There was no spring there. Attempted to install the spring. got the spring in but the door would not close. I've read in an early forum that the rollers around the hinge move freely. i learned the hard way , mine did not. I had to remove spring, and will attempt again. How do you loosen up these rollers. Thanks, Dan
If you are referring to the hinge detent rollers, the best way to free them is to soak them down with WD40(or similar penetrant) and work them back/forth(with the spring in place). I can't see the rollers being seized up keeping the door from closing, tho.😕 Might make it harder to close, but it should not keep you from closing it at all.

Thanks , I'll look into it, the spring I purchased through Corvette central seems to be a little thicker then the original. The top part of spring was still in hinge. Bottom of spring was broke off before I bought the car.
