On my '85, the original Goodyears made the most noise. From those I went to Michelin, which were quiet, but dint wear very well....they dint last very long. I have a set of Kumhos on it now that are quiet, and seem to handle as well as the others....maybe a bit stiffer, tho. The Kumhos were a little over $800 when I got them.
Remember that these tires are directional(left/right) by design, and if you have the wider rear rims, you're looking at buying 4 different tires. I had a brain fart when I bought the Kumhos, and dint get the wider rear tires for the wider rims...DOH!
