Looking great Ben!! I remember before you started when you had the motion-like headlight set up. I’m running a Quickfuel mechanical secondary 830 on the Lukester and it starts like fuel injection and runs like a an animal!! Tossed my BG cause it wouldn’t react to tuning adjustments. Vette looks awesome!! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

Im guessing ethanol porosity damage in the transfer circuit. So im going to put an ultra street avenger 670 (ms/ec) on the car. Anyone else used one?

I'm running a regular Street Avenger 670 w/elect. choke on my LT-1.  Runs great!

I also removed the butterfly valve from the exhaust riser and blocked off the exhaust ports in the intake manifold gaskets to keep that heat away from the carb.

Unless you have replaced everything in the original fuel system, you should probably not be using ethanol flavored gasoline.

Tough to find ethanol free gas in my area. Also if you want to keep the q jet you may want to have the Cross shafts drilled and re bushed. Will help the mid range stumble and not suck air that won't mix with fuel.

So I made the carb swap to the street avenger.

I also had a problem with the vac advance on the msd distributor advancing too much.  i would up making a limited out of sheet metal to prevent it from adding 18 degrees of advance.  I am limiting it to 10 degrees.

Also, I bit the bullet and swapped the cam.  The comp magnum 270H was getting me 10" of vacuum and that just isn't streetable.  I had the timing way advanced to get it to run and then it was running hot and boiling the gas out of the carb.

I changed it to a Comp Xtreme energy 264HR.  Same lift, very close on duration but much smaller valve overlap because the lobes are less round with the HR vs H.  I am getting 16.5" of vac and the world is a better place now.

when i started building this car i wanted to drag race...  now i am 16 yr older and have no interest.  i just want to street drive it.

I can get ethanal free 93 at one local station (lots of places have it as 91) but I have had a number of times when I look down at the gas gauge and realize I am about to be pushing it and I find the nearest station I can and put in whatever passes for premium.

Nice!  I agree with the wheels. I’m in the process of putting 18” on mine. What is the cut out of your heat shields?  Where did you buy the roll bars?  I can only find one place that sells them.

I dont recall on the roll bars because i bought them ar the start of the project in 2004/5. But i have the box so ill get the name when i go out to my shop next.

also on wheels im thinking either 19-20. Enough to make it past the ebracket in rear and tie rod ends at front.

I am running 255/60/15 (27.4” diameter) so even at 20” id still have 3.5” of sidewall

might have good use for the very new tires...  the 81 barn find

That will give me an excuse to buy my new wheels and tires
