NASCAR's Rick Hendrick Visits NCM
 The National Corvette Museum was abuzz on Tuesday when NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick arrived, taking delivery of not one but three Corvettes! In addition to the 2011 Inferno Orange Carbon Edition (VIN 001), 2011 Black Carbon Edition (only black carbon in existence, and the last one made) and the 2012 Centennial Edition Z06 (VIN 100), Mr. Hendrick brought along three cars from his collection for display and photo ops, including the 2011 Le Mans Tribute Corvette the Museum auctioned at Barrett-Jackson to raise funds for the Motorsports Park.
After touring the Museum and taking a test drive of the simulators, the group enjoyed lunch in the Museum's Conference Center, catered by the Corvette Cafe. "If there's a Corvette junkie in the world I'm it," said Hendrick at the luncheon. Hendrick presented the Museum with two checks for $2,500 - one from Hendrick Motorsports and the other from Hendrick Automotive Group. 100 Days Until the 100th Anniversary
 We're just under 100 days from the 100th Anniversary of Chevrolet, and GM is celebrating in some unique ways!
Teaming up with Pandora Internet radio, GM has created a special "Chevy 100" channel to celebrate the milestone birthday. The station will play the top 100 songs that mention Chevrolet cars, including Prince's "Little Red Corvette." Check out the Pandora station here.
Other celebratory initiatives include the Centennial Edition Corvette which Bash attendees got to check out first-hand, a nationwide rollout of the Volt, sponsorship of this year's Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit and special website promotions at www.Chevy100.com - including the chance to vote for the BEST Chevy of all time.
The Museum has a few celebrations of our own, including a 100 Years of Chevrolet exhibit kicking off Monday and running thru the end of December. The exhibit includes a 1912 Little, 1939 Produce Truck, 1942 War Car and models such as the Impala, Bel Air, Corvair, Malibu, Chevelle and more! |

Carlisle is one of the largest and most fun-filled Corvette events in the world, featuring more than 5,000 Corvettes representing all generations. Participate in autocross, dyno testing, burnouts, and the parade through historic downtown Carlisle. Check-out the swap meet with a wide variety of vendors, an all-Corvette car corral, Manufacturers Midway and Installation Alley.

Corvette Racing Wins Grand Prix of Mosport
 Corvette Racing returned to the winner's circle at the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport as Oliver Gavin and Jan Magnussen scored the team's first American Le Mans Series victory of the season. Gavin and Magnussen won the GT class by 4.4 seconds in their No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R over the Ferrari 458 Italia of Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander. Tommy Milner and Olivier Beretta finished sixth in the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R after contact with a backmarker cost them valuable time on the high-speed Canadian circuit.
The Museum was on hand at the race to cheer on the team, and even won the club participant award at the Corvette Corral. The visit to the race was part of the "Museum in Motion" series. Welcome New Caravan Captains
 We would like to welcome three new 2014 National Corvette Caravan Captain volunteers who have stepped up to lead caravans from their areas:
WYOMING: Lynn McBride - Casper, WY. Lynn will be working closely with Robin Forrer and her Northwest Caravan to integrate the two caravans into one cohesive unit. Lynn is a member and present governor of Central Wyoming Corvettes.
WESTERN CANADA: Graham Borley - Red Deer, AB. Graham has volunteered to organize a Canadian caravan to lead our neighbors from the western provinces and have them become part of the NCM Caravan experience. Graham is a member of the Corvettes Unlimited Corvette Club of Calgary.
GEORGIA: Robert Brown - McDonough, GA. Robert is a long time Lifetime member and supporter of the NCM. Robert is a member of the Notorious Vettes Corvette Club of Atlanta. Thanks to everyone who is working so hard to make our 2014 Caravan a success! |
