Johnny O'Connell Transitions from Corvette Racing to Team Cadillac

Johnny O'Connell will move from Corvette Racing to the new Team Cadillac motorsports program in the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT in 2011. After 10 successful seasons in Corvettes, O'Connell will join former Corvette Racing teammate Andy Pilgrim in a pair of Cadillac CTS-V Coupes as Cadillac returns to racing in the SCCA production-based series.

"After 10 amazing years with Corvette Racing as part of one of the best American sports car teams in history, I am extremely flattered that Cadillac selected me for this very important program," said O'Connell.

Corvette Racing will announce its 2011 program plans and driver lineup at a later date. Corvette Racing’s next event is the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway on March 19, 2011, the season-opening round of the 2011 American Le Mans Series.

In Search of... Pedal Cars!

In an effort to properly document Corvette history we will periodically post items we are seeking information on.

Do you know who... purchased or currently owns any of the 18 pedal cars offered by the National Corvette Museum at the Grand Opening in 1994? The Library and Archives are compiling a listing of who has those cars. One has been located - it recently sold at a Memorabilia Auction at Bob McDorman's Chevrolet.

If you know of any other owners of the cars please contact Betty Hardison at 270-467-8841 or email betty@corvettemuseum.org.

Former GM Design Chief Chuck Jordan Dies

Retired General Motors design chief Charles "Chuck" Jordan died last Thursday at the age of 83.

Jordan was the fourth man to run GM's design house, holding that top job from 1986 - 1992. He followed Irv Rybicki, Bill Mitchell and Harley Earl. Wayne Cherry followed Jordan, and today Ed Welburn runs GM design.

Jordan joined GM in 1949 and spent his early years on the Motorama show cars. From his Motorama projects, he understood the appeal of sports cars and other wild-side machines, and believed stylists could really stretch their legs on such machines, as he did on the 1990s Camaros and, earlier, the Corvette.

Congratulations to Jeff Boerio. He correctly identified the LG Motorsports ALMS GT2 Corvette, and that it was the first Corvette in GT2! Jeff scored a Corvette prize!
